She married the boy she fell for when she was only eleven years old and together they have two beautiful heathens. CJ obviously loves to read and write. She can watch the Giant’s play baseball but hates football. She bakes when she’s sad, runs when she’s mad and dances when she’s happy (even if she cant find a rhythm to save her life) If you’re looking for her and can’t seem to find her, look on the staircase, it’s her favorite spot to read.
I start restocking the beer fridge when I get the feeling someone is watching me. I turn slowly to take in the people in the bar and check for anything suspicious. When my sight reached the back of the room, I found the set of eyes that made me stir. Declan. Deep blue-green eyes set just below dark furrowed brows. The piercing in his right brow shone under the low overhead lighting above his table and made me want to take it between my teeth. Our gazes connect and he doesn’t look away. The girl is still sitting on his lap and running her skanky hand up and down his thigh. She has no idea that he’s been staring at me for at least the last thirty seconds. Not being able to handle the stare contest any longer, I smile at him. He doesn’t smile back and it really doesn’t bother me. It probably should, but I have a feeling that it’s not a negative emotion that makes him continue to stare blankly.
“Let me ask you this first—why did you send me that dinner?” I don’t even have to think about that answer before replying, “Because those ramen noodles are terrible for you and I don’t like the idea of you eating badly. Because I wanted to take you to dinner, I still want to, but you won’t go with me. Because I was hoping it would make you smile. Because I wanted to and I usually do what I want, Ava.” Her breathing hitched a bit and then she slowly nodded her head a couple times. At some point during my answer, I took another couple steps, so I’m right in front of her and she’s looking up at me, her neck elongated and exposed. “Ok.” Her words come out like a sigh and I think goosebumps just popped out on the back of my neck. “Did it make you smile, Ava?”
All day and all night she resided front and center of all my thoughts. It didn’t help when my cousin Talon asked me about having a girl. Since Ava was already present in my thoughts, his question just drove me a little crazier.
“I’m so sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen.” My breath hitches a couple times by the time I’m able to get all of that out. “You weren’t supposed to get this close to me, Dec. I warned you,” I offer pathetically.
I slowly spin around to find him sucking on the corner of his bottom lip, hands shoved in his pockets, eyes squinted. The air in my lungs swooshes out of me. It has been one hell of a day, not at all how I expected it to go, but that’s more than okay with me. Without removing his hands, Declan stalks towards me, a man on a mission and I am about to be accomplished
